Another FIRST

In other Breaking News, Fazal showed us today that he knows how to climb stairs!!!!!!

He demostrated by climbing up the entire staircase from the basement to the upper floor (12 steps) all by himself, and fast. Of course, his daddy was right behind him.

First Swim

I wish we had photos to show you, because it was SUCH a riot!! Fazal had his first dip in a swimming pool yesterday with mom and grandma, and he loved it!! He wore this tiny little life jacket and once he figured out how to splash, he just splashed and splashed over and over again, getting his own face soaked and us too! Next time, we'll try to get some photos.

"Curious George" lives at our house

You know the children's book about Curious George, the adventurous monkey that gets into everything? Fazal is him in a different form. We haven't posted in a while for many different reasons, not the least of which was Fazal's 2-week battle with e coli....ugh. He is all better now and as energetic and curious as ever. He loves when we chase him, which entails him crawling a few feet away from us, turning around, we lunge toward him, and he shrieks and laughs and crawls a few more feet away, and so on. These photos show a few of the things he's been into lately...

He finds "drums" everywhere - this one in the form of a lint roller and a trash can.

This was the day he discovered the fun of pulling on the toilet paper roll. Since this day, the toilet paper now has to live out of reach.
Here he is climbing on daddy's backpack to get a closer look at the bookshelf...

As I write he is clearing all the CD's off of another shelf and onto the floor - talk to you later!!!

BREAKING NEWS! Fazal takes his first steps!

We are excited to share that Fazal took his first independent steps this afternoon at approximately 3:00pm!!!!!! He took about 4 steps, his arms straight up in the air, and both of his parents were looking on with astonishment and pride!!! :-)

Welcome Baby Girl Bera!

Our warmest wishes go to our dear friends, Susan and Elijah, on the birth of their beatiful baby girl named Bera.

Bera is half-Kenyan, half-American, just like Fazal, so we look forward to these "cousins" getting to know each other over time.

A Friends Visit

It has taken a while to update the blog, but that doesn't make these photos any less special. Our dear friends Jjumba and Lara came to visit all the way from Vancouver, Canada!! We were so thrilled and honored that they'd come to see us. We haven't seen them in over 4 years!! They got married axactly one month after we did, and we missed each other's weddings because they were on different continents. It was great to catch up and it was like no time had gone by at all.

Lara is on her way to becoming a Pediatrician, so it was a treat to have her here playing with Fazal, asking her questions, etc. She's going to be a natural.... Classic Jjumba!! :-)

Nancy, another Haifa friend who now lives in New Jersey also drove up for the weekend. It was great to see her, and her brother David a couple of days later! Jjumba has been like family to us for many years, ever since we were all serving at the Bahai World Centre together, and it was GREAT to see him again!
Fazal has been sick for a few days now, and he's handling it like a pro, but it's been a challenge. Hopefully they'll figure it out soon. It's probably just a bug going around, but they want to rule out anything else. Lara, we wish you were still here!! :-)
